Lincoln’s Habitat For Humanity ReStore Closed Following Weekend Fire

Habitat for Humanity officials say their ReStore near 56th and Nebraska Parkway will be closed for the rest of the week due to smoke and fire damage.   LFR crews arrived at the store Sunday afternoon and found a dumpster on fire near the warehouse and donation drop-off/pick-up area.
“Thanks to the quick response of the Lincoln Fire Department and our incredible staff, what could have been a major tragedy was swiftly contained,” the organization said in a Facebook post.
“We are deeply grateful for their immediate action, which limited the impact to heavy smoke damage.”
LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says crews were able to quickly out the fire out after it spread to the outside the building, causing nearly $25,000 in damage.  She says there was smoke damage throughout the building.
“For the safety of our staff, volunteers, and customers, the Lincoln Habitat ReStore will remain closed this coming week while we clean and assess the situation,” according to the Facebook post.
“Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of our mission to build homes, communities, and hope here in Lincoln.”
