Lincoln Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a girl on a trail Tuesday afternoon. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says officers responded to the report of a disturbance in the area of Faulkner Drive and Browning Street.
“25-year-old Gavin Neverve approached a 12-year-old girl walking on the bike trail and inappropriately touched her.” Thomas says he was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail for 3rd degree sexual assault of a child.
“The victim told officers during the incident, an unknown woman stopped her vehicle and yelled at the man to get away from her,” Thomas says. “Once he left, the woman walked the girl home.”
Thomas says investigators are looking to identify this good Samaritan and interview about the incident. Anyone who may know this woman is asked to call the Special Victims Unit at 402-441-5964.
