Lincoln Bishop Asking For Prayers Following Deadly Catholic School Shooting

By Tom Stanton Aug 27, 2025 | 2:38 PM

Two students were killed and 17 others injured as they attended morning Mass at a Catholic school in Minneapolis Wednesday morning.  Police say the gunman, who later killed himself, fired rounds through the stained glass windows.

In the wake of the horrific shooting, Bishop James Conley of the Diocese of Lincoln has issued a statement.  “I am saddened to learn of the shooting this morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis,” Conley said in a Facebook post.

“The senseless loss of life is heartbreaking. I have sent a text to Archbishop Hebda, who is a longtime friend, pledging our prayers and solidarity with the victims, their families and the archdiocese. Please join with me in praying for all of them and for peace in our world.”

He ended his statement with “Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.”  Minneapolis Police the children killed were 8 and 10 years old and were sitting in church pews when the shooting happened.
