Health care providers and physicians across Nebraska are joining forces to get more children and teenagers vaccinated against COVID-19. As of December 1st, 82,320 children and teens in Nebraska have been vaccinated against the virus. Officials say this is a good start but we are not yet done.
Chanda Chacon is the President and CEO at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha and says, “”Max the Vax was developed to provide families with vaccination resources and information straight from the source: Nebraska physicians and health care providers. The Max the Vax effort is funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Education, and includes physicians and healthcare providers throughout the state who are ready to help parents and guardians get answers and information about vaccination for children and teens.” She is it is time to maximize our vaccination rates to protect our community and lower the risk of someone becoming severely ill with the virus.
Nebraska Commissioner of Education dr. Matthew Blomstedt says “Keeping our students health and in school is of paramount importance to families and our community.” Along with scheduling vaccinations through physicians and health care providers, several Nebraska schools host regular vaccination clinics. He says they want parents to know they have a great resource in their child’s school and family health care provider. This is also a way for them to get valuable information.
More than 100 Nebraska physicians and health care providers have joined the effort to maximize vaccination rates among children and teens ages five and up.
