LPS says students made good progress in the 2020-21 school year despite the pandemic. LPS says academic achievement data was collected through the Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System.

NSCAS compared state proficiency rates with LPS students who learned remotely or in person. “While significant challenges remain, we continue to be proud of our educators and our students for their continued efforts to persevere during these trying times,” said Matt Larson, associate superintendent for Instruction. “There is evidence that our staff whole-heartedly carried out their mission to meet students’ needs and our students continued to learn during the uncertainties and multiple interruptions of the pandemic.”

The data shows that students in grades 3-8 were more proficient than the state in both Math and English/Langauge Arts. Grade 11 students were less proficient than the state in both categories.

The data confirmed that proficiency rates were shown to be higher for students learning in-person than those who learned remotely, defined by LPS as students who learned from home for at least four weeks.

LPS received a “Great” designation as part of the Nebraska Department of Education’s Accountability for a Quality Education System, Today and Tomorrow.

The Nebraska Department of Education used information from the 2018-2019 school year to designate schools into four categories: Excellent, Great, Good and Needs Improvement.

LPS says they have no schools in the Needs Improvement category.
