A man is facing gun charges after Lincoln Police found him riding in a vehicle near 17th and Washington Streets around 7:00 Saturday night. Officer Erin Spilker says the officers spotted the driver, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. They took him into custody without incident.

She says officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and got consent to search the passenger.  They found a loaded 9mm handgun in 33 year old Patrick Harris’ waistband.

She says the gun had been reported stolen on April 2 from Tilden, Nebraska.  “Harris was found to be prohibited from possessing a firearm due to previous convictions.  Harris was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and Carrying Concealed Weapon,” Spilker says.
