Social media star and basketball content creator Cam Wilder returns to Lincoln this Friday, July 18, for an exhibition event blending streetball and youth mentorship at the Sandhills Global Event Center.
The stop is part of Wilder’s nationwide Park Takeover Tour, a grassroots-style basketball showcase known for drawing massive crowds, high-level talent, and viral moments. Friday’s Lincoln edition features a free Lincoln vs. Omaha exhibition game at 4:45 p.m., followed by the winning squad facing off against Wilder and his crew at 6:15 p.m.
Wilder, who boasts over 10 million followers across platforms like TikTok and Instagram, has earned national attention for using basketball to help young athletes gain exposure and tell their stories.
This year’s event is being hosted in partnership with Clay Anders, a Lincoln trucker-turned-mentor who founded the Honesty Project after tragedy struck a close friend’s family. Anders uses pro-social events like the Park Takeover to connect with local youth and guide them toward education, trade skills, and community support.
“This isn’t just about basketball,” Anders said. “It’s about showing kids they have options. That someone sees them. That they matter.”
After last year’s takeover at Antelope Park was shut down due to overwhelming crowds, Anders worked with local leaders to move this year’s event indoors to Sandhills.
Admission is free and early arrival is encouraged. Doors open at 4 p.m., and metal detectors will be in use. Pre-registration is recommended at sandhillsglobaleventcenter.org.
