A Lincoln Police officer on patrol spotted a 2013 Ford Focus in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on North 26th Street around 8 Wednesday night. The officer ran the license plate and it came back stolen on September 28th from Honda of Lincoln on Yankee Hill Road. The vehicle had been stolen on November 9th from the 2600 block of S 58th Street.

The officer spoke with the man who had been sitting in the vehicle. Officers found the car keys and a glass pipe and several bags of methamphetamine residue in his pocket.

Officers also located a large amount of stolen property inside the vehicle that included tools, electronics. credit cards, blank checks, and identification cards.

36 year old Jonathan Paul was taken into custody for felony theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance, felony criminal possession of four or more financial transaction devices, and felony criminal possession of two or more blank financial transaction devices.

Officers are still working to identify the owners of the stolen property. Some of the items were taken from two home burglaries and from a vehicle break-in. Officers also found a wallet reported lost.
