Lincoln manufacturers are providing a unique opportunity for those with no prior experience to land a job. On LNK Today, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce President Wendy Birdsall said the Manufacturing Tech Certification Program starts January 12.

It’s a free six week course that meets for two hours each night.   It gives students basic knowledge of manufacturing, including information about measurement, reading work orders and manufacturing workplace protocols.

The final class will be a career fair giving students an opportunity to interview and be considered for a position.  “The chances of you getting a job in manufacturing after that class are very, very good,” Birdsall says.  “It’s a really great way to go into the area of manufacturing, which is good paying, good benefits job.”

A total of 12-15 students will be accepted.  In additions to the training, there will be free childcare, complimentary meals and a $250 stipend upon completion of the program.

Applications need to be submitted by December 23.  Click https://www.selectlincoln.org/LMC  to download an application.
