Nebraska men’s basketball was one of 16 teams selected to the first-ever College Basketball Crown Tournament, to begin March 31 in Las Vegas. The Huskers will open play against Arizona State March 31 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. Tipoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
The College Basketball Crown Tournament includes teams from the Big Ten, Big East and Big 12. Along with Nebraska, USC represents the Big Ten. Arizona State, Cincinnati, UCF and Utah all come from the Big 12 while Butler, DePaul, Georgetown and Villanova represent the Big East. Boise State, George Washington, Oregon State, Tulane and Washington State round out the 16-team. The tournament was created by FOX Sports and AEG as an alternative to the NIT and CBI tournament, consolation tournaments for teams not selected to the NCAA Tournament.
This tournament begins in late March, with the first-round winners playing Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3. The semifinals are April 4, with the championship to be played Sunday, April 6 at the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas.
Nebraska and Arizona State square off for the first time since 2008.
