A south Lincoln disc golf course just hit back-to-back birdies, landing once again on a global top 100 list.
UDisc, a leading frisbee golf app for scorekeeping and directories, has ranked the Beal Slough Disc Golf Course near S. 60th and Pine Lake Road as one of the top courses in the world for the second consecutive year. Out of more than 16,000 courses worldwide, Beal Slough is ranked 70th in UDisc’s annual World’s Best Disc Golf Courses Top 100. It moves up 18 spots from its 88th place ranking in 2024 and is the only Nebraska course in the list.
“We’re thrilled to have Beal Slough recognized as the 70th best disc golf course in the world – our second time making the top 100,” said Parks and Recreation Director Maggie Stuckey-Ross. “This honor is a testament to Lincoln and Nebraska’s growing disc golf community. This recognition wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the Lincoln Flying Disc Club volunteers, whose vision and passion have made this achievement a reality.”
To earn a ranking in the top 0.006% of disc golf courses in no easy shot… taking the #1 spot this year was the world-class 18-hole Krokhol Disc Golf Course located in Norway.
The Beal Slough 18-hole course opened in 2021 and is rated as challenging to very challenging. The par 62 course features three layouts, white for amateurs, blue for professional-level players and gold for top professional players. A practice area includes two standard baskets, a marksman basket, two warm up nets with concrete pads, and a 500-foot driving range.
While the course is owned by the City of Lincoln, it was constructed by the Lincoln Flying Disc Club (LFDC) through an agreement with the City. The nonprofit club maintains the course and raises funds for improvements and maintenance through donations and suggested $5 daily and $75 annual fees. The LFDC sponsors league play on Sundays.
James Fleege, Lincoln Flying Disc Golf Course Club President, said that in May the Beal Slough course will host the Star City Classic, Nebraska’s largest disc golf tournament, and be included in the Disc Golf Pro Tour Qualifying Series.
“Both events are incredible opportunities to showcase a great course,” Fleege said.
