Nebraska’s unemployment rate dropped to 1.9% last month, which was the lowest any state has reached since data began being collected in 1976. The October rate reported by the state labor department is the first time a state’s unemployment rate dropped below 2%.
Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement after the numbers were released. “Nebraska has achieved the lowest unemployment rate of any state in history.” The record rate is a sign of our strong job growth, successful reemployment services, and extraordinary economic resilience. Nebraska has plenty of great-paying career opportunities for anyone looking to enjoy the Good Life.”
In addition to the 1.9% unemployment rate last month Nebraska’s labor force participation was 68.4%, tied for second in the country. Nebraska’s employment-to-population ratio was 67.1% which was tops in the nation.
