Nebraska baseball salvaged its series finale with Washington to win 6-2 Sunday at Hawks Field in Lincoln.
The Huskers jumped on the board in the second, when Case Sanderson singled through the right side to score Gabe Swansen. Then in the fifth, Drew Carey hammered a three-run home run to push the lead to 4-0. The Huskies tallied a run in the top of the eighth, but the Huskers responded in the bottom of the eighth as Devin Nunez homered to right field and Sanderson hit an RBI double to push the lead to 6-2.
Drew Christo earned the win out of the bullpen for Nebraska, allowing one earned run in three innings while striking out six. He came on for Jackson Brockett, who threw 4.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits and four strikeouts. Luke Broderick earned the save by throwing the final 1.1 innings, allowing just one earned run.
Cayden Brumbaugh led the Husker offense, hitting 3-for-4. Sanderson also had two hits for Nebraska.
The Huskers now prepare for their first midweek game of the season, as NU faces Wichita State Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Hawks Field in Lincoln. Pregame coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. on KLIN.
