A Lincoln Police officer saw a black Honda CRV speeding around midnight Sunday near 18th and K Street. As the road curved near South 21st Street, the driver lost control. The vehicle hit a tree and the driver got out and ran.

That driver, 22 year old Baylee Claussen was taken into custody after a foot chase.

The vehicle had been stolen from Adams Auto Sales at 708 West Cornhusker on November 12th. An employee reported the Honda had been left running in the lot as employees were cleaning it. The employees stepped away and it was taken. The vehicle was valued at $6,000 and was towed due to damage from the accident.

The license plates found on the vehicle belonged to a different vehicle that had been reported stolen on November 19th from the 1800 block of North 62nd Street.  That vehicle has not been located.

Claussen was booked for felony theft by receiving, misdemeanor theft by receiving, leaving the scene of an accident, obstruction of a police officer, willful reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
