Lincoln Public Schools has announced a series of leadership changes for the upcoming school year.

Dawes Middle School Principal Liz Miller will be the new principal of Northeast High School, beginning next school year.

Miller is a Lincoln Northeast High School alum and grew up in northeast Lincoln. Prior to joining Dawes in 2019, she was an assistant principal at Lincoln East High School. She was also an instructional coordinator at Park Middle School and interim associate principal at Goodrich Middle School.

“We are fortunate to have many talented and experienced administrators in our district who are excited and willing to take on new opportunities and challenges,” said LPS Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Sarah Salem. “Liz is a dedicated and passionate leader who has embedded herself in northeast Lincoln and strives each day to fulfill the LPS mission of helping all students find their success.”

Additionally, LPS Director of Operations Scott Wieskamp announced his plans to retire at the end of the school year.

Wieskamp just celebrated his 25th year with Lincoln Public Schools. The search for the next director of Operations will begin immediately. His last day will be June 30, 2025.

As the director of Operations, Wieskamp oversees custodial services, maintenance and facilities, and all construction projects for the school district. During Wieskamp’s tenure, he has been instrumental in overseeing projects from three different bond issues totalling approximately $693 million. In addition to numerous renovation projects across the district, Wieskamp has led the building of nine new schools and the district office building after it burned down. Wieskamp guided the district’s transition to increasing sustainable practices contributing to Lincoln’s environment.

Wieskamp started at LPS in 1999 as the supervisor of Maintenance before taking on the director of Operations duties in 2001.

“Scott is a strategic visionary,” LPS Associate Superintendent for Business Affairs Liz Standish said in a news release. “Students in LPS facilities learn in up-to-date, well-maintained facilities every day thanks to Scott’s dedicated leadership.”
