Lincoln residents are invited to honor area veterans on Thursday, November 11th.
Gailen Young is with the Veterans Walk of Recognition and tells KLIN News, “This will be our 23rd year. We start at Veterans Memorial Stadium and we walk to Veterans Memorial Gardens. Anyone can join us along the way even if it is the last three steps.” Young goes on to say they are trying to put the veteran back in Veterans Day.
The walk will start at 9:30 a.m. Flags will be placed in the garden to commemorate the day.
Lincoln’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held virtually this year. It will air at noon and 6 p.m. on LNKTV. That is available on Allo Channels 2 and 3, Spectrum channels 1300 and 1301 and Kinetic channels 1005 and 1010. The ceremony will also be made available at LNKTV.lincoln.ne.gov and YouTube.com/LNKTVcity.
Speakers at this year’s event include Army Brigadier General Kevin Lyons who serves as the Assistant Adjutant General – Army for the Nebraska Army National Guard. The Colors will be presented by the Nebraska Army and Air National Guard Color Guard.
