The annual Salvation Army Turkey Drive is Friday and Broadcast House stations are supporting the effort. This year’s drive is a bit different due to the pandemic and supply chain issues.
The location for the drive this year will be Hy-Vee at 70th & Pioneers. Nate Johnson is the store manager and told LNK Today with Jack & Friends that instead of collecting turkey’s this year they are asking Lincoln residents to donate cash.
“Anybody who is in there can just donate money. We’ll have a register set up right by the east entryway and you can just come and donate money,” Johnson says. “We use that money, turn around and buy food for people in need in Lincoln.”
The Salvation Army has been receiving applications from families for the past couple of weeks and will continue to accept them through Friday. “If you need some help or know someone who needs some Thanksgiving help, a basket, stop by the Salvation Army at 27th and Holdrege and get them signed up.”
All Broadcast House stations will be on location at Hy-Vee on Friday.
