More Than 100 Impaired Drivers Arrested by LPD in December

By Tom Stanton Jan 3, 2025 | 4:28 PM

Lincoln Police took a zero-tolerance approach to drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign during the month of December.  LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says officers arrested 139 individuals for driving under the influence, which is a 18.8% increase from last year.

“This is the highest number of DUIs arrested during this annual project since 2014.”   She says additional officers worked overtime during the nights and weekends to conduct high visibility traffic enforcement to help deter impaired driving.

The enforcement campaign was made possible by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
