Lincoln Police say a man was seriously injured after being stabbed in the chest Monday night at the People’s City Mission at 110 ‘Q’ Street. Officers were called to the homeless shelter around 5:40 p.m. and found a 34-year-old man with a puncture wound to his upper chest.
Officers determined that the victim had been approached by 38-year-old Steven Shiffermiller of Lincoln. Police say Shiffermiller was yelling at the victim that he would kill him and then stabbed him in the chest with a metal tire reamer.
The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A tire reamer is a tool designed to assist in fixing a flat tire and typically has a
plastic T-shaped handle with a sharp metal end.
Shiffermiller was arrested at the scene and booked for 2nd degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony and terroristic threats.
