Nebraska men’s basketball held Murray State to just 4-for-28 shooting in the first half and cruised to a 66-49 win Sunday night at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The tough defensive effort carried throughout the game, as the Cornhuskers held the Racers to just 30 percent shooting and a season-low point total, nearly 30 points below their season average.
Andrew Morgan came off the bench to notch his first double-double as a Husker, 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Connor Essegian drained five three-pointers to tally 15 points. Rolly Worster added 11 points. Nebraska shot nearly 50 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle, 40-26. The Huskers removed most of the drama from the game early during a 16-0 run.
Nebraska now prepares to face host team, Hawaii, which beat Charlotte late Sunday, 78-61. Pregame coverage begins at 8:30 p.m., with tipoff at 9:30 p.m. on KLIN.
