Three Alarm Fire at Lincoln Auto Body Shop

By Tom Stanton Dec 12, 2024 | 9:37 AM

Lincoln firefighters had to deal with very cold conditions as they fought a three-alarm fire at an auto body shop near 20th and Holdrege early Thursday morning.  Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says crews arrived around 4:15 a.m.

“Flames were coming through the roof and there was heavy smoke.”  Lierman says they fought the fire from the inside and from their aerial truck.  She says the fire started in an office and was contained to the office and a garage area.

The body shop is one of several businesses at that location.   The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.  Lierman says the 2nd and 3rd alarms were sounded to bring more firefighters to the scene so crews could rotate due to the extreme cold.

She says many of the additional firefighters were immediately sent back into the service.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
