Lincoln Police say a man doing lawn care work at an assisted living facility near 56th and Pioneers Blvd Wednesday afternoon accidentally shot himself. LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says officers determined the man had come inside to use the restroom.
“While inside, his 9mm handgun went off while inside its holster while he was putting it back on, hitting him in the groin and leg area,” Thomas says. “He was taken to the hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.”
She says no one else was hurt. To add insult to injury the 25-year-old man was cited and released for discharging a firearm.
