A 14-year-old is accused of stealing a pickup truck from a home near 57th and Vale around 7:30 Sunday morning. “A 2024 white GMC Sierra pickup valued at $98,000 had been stolen from the victim’s driveway,” says LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas. “The vehicle was equipped with OnStar, so officers worked with the company to locate the vehicle near N. 25th and ‘O’ Streets.”
Officers activated their cruiser lights and Thomas says the vehicle then fled the area. “OnStar was able to track the vehicle and eventually disable it near 17th and ‘F’ Streets, where the driver ran off on foot.”
Thomas says the teen was caught at a home near 10th and C Streets. The boy was taken to the Youth Services Center on several warrants and was also referred and booked for theft by receiving $5,000 or more and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.
