Come out and support our local veterans on Sunday.
Lincoln Veterans Parade will hold their 3rd annual event starting at 2 p.m.
Commander Antonio Marino tells KLIN News, “It has gotten big. It has great support from the community. Great volunteer help. Right now, the final count is 65 entries”. That includes veteran groups , businesses, marching bands, civic organizations and more.
Marino says for many years, veterans walked from Memorial Stadium to Veterans Memorial Garden. He says, “There has been a demand for a proper parade to greatly celebrate our veteran community.”
The parade will start at 21st and K. It will make a brief stop at the State Capitol for an opening ceremony. That should last about 10 to 15 minutes and will wrap up with the Lincoln High School band playing the National Anthem. The parade route ends at 14th and K.
Marino says they held their first parade in 2018 with about 100 spectators. That grew to about 1,000 in 2019. The parade was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic so Marino hopes the streets are packed this Sunday with supporters.
