Nebraska State troopers arrested three people and took 38 pounds of methamphetamine off the streets last Saturday. A state patrol spokesman says a trooper was getting gas at a truck stop near Hershey around 4:30 p.m. when he encountered three adults and two small children in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The patrol says during that contact the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity. A search of the vehicle revealed numerous packages of methamphetamine concealed inside a large subwoofer box.
29-year-old Andres Florentino-Fortunato, 47-year-old Armando Arroyo and 23-year-old Daniela Torres-Hernandez are all from Mexico and were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver a hazardous drug and intentional child abuse with no injury.
All three were booked into the Lincoln County Jail. The two children were placed in protective care.
