Kawasaki employees took swift action Monday morning to extinguish a small airduct fire at their plant location in northwest Lincoln.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue (LFR) crews were called to the building at 6600 NW 27th Street around 9:15 a.m.

A mechanical failure produced a smoldering object that was contained to the ductwork, of which employees were able to use a fire extinguisher to subdue.

“It’s isolated area, and it’s under control,” LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman told KLIN News. “Crews worked to check for any extension and make sure everything was put out.”

No injuries were reported to LFR crews or any employees of Kawasaki. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is on-going.
