Huskers start two-match eastern roadtrip with sweep

No. 2 Nebraska volleyball began a busy weekend with a sweep of Michigan State 25-15, 25-19, 25-15, Friday in East Lansing, Mich. The win was the Huskers’ (17-1, 7-0 Big Ten) 14th straight and was NU’s 12th sweep of the season.

Taylor Landfair tallied 12 kills while Harper Murray added 12 kills and eight digs. Andi Jackson had 10 kills and a team-leading five blocks. Bergen Reilly fell just short of a double-double with 34 assists and nine digs. Akasha Anderson and Taylor Preston led the Spartans (7-11, 0-7) with nine kills each. Nebraska solidly outhit MSU, .364-.141 for the match.

The first set was closely contested before Nebraska won 12 of the final 14 rallies to cruise to a set one victory. There were a combined five lead changes in the final two sets as the Huskers controlled the last two sets to finish the match.

Nebraska will have to quickly move on from the victory, as the Huskers face Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Prematch coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. on B-107.3.
