Several rural fire departments battled a fire around 6:30 Friday morning near 56th and Yankee Hill Road. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Captain John Vik says when deputies and firefighters arrived a large storage building was engulfed in flames.
“The initial investigation indicates it appears to be electrical in origin for the fire, estimating at this point about $250,000 in damage total loss of building and contents.” Vik says the building had several vehicles, UTV’s, lawnmowers and tools stored inside.
Vik says an electrical issue sparked the fire and damage is estimated at $250,000. No one was injured. “It’s a sad day for the owners. No one wants to see that happen on their property.”
