Three men were arrested Saturday after an attempted robbery near 63rd and McCormick Drive. LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says the victim told police he was approached by two men around 11:00 p.m.
“One of them asked if the victim had any money and lifted his shirt to show a black Glock-style handgun with an extended magazine tucked into his waistband,” Thomas says. The victim said no and left before reporting the incident to police.
“An NSP trooper made a traffic stop at 84th and Cornhusker Highway and observed the occupants matched the description of the suspects from the attempted robbery,” Thomas says.
The gun was located in the vehicle and determined to be a replica BB gun. They were taken into custody and transported to the Lancaster County Jail.
18-year-0ld Haider Al-Waely and 19-year-old Yousef Sabah were booked for attempted robbery and terroristic threats. 19-year-old Ayman Malaka was arrested for aiding and abetting attempted robbery.
