Lincoln Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help in identifying a pair who assaulted a man resting on a bench near a central Lincoln gas station and thieves who stole a newly purchased pickup truck from a southwest Lincoln parking lot.

The first case occurred on August 10, 2024, around 8:30 p.m. outside of the Fast Break gas station on 16th and South Street.

Video Forensics Technician for the Lincoln Police Department Becky Keller says the victim in this case was resting on a bench when a man wearing a red shirt came up to him and called him “a filthy bum” before striking him with a collapsible baton.

The victim said he then moved locations to call police when an individual in a darker colored shirt punched him in his face.

Photos of the individuals are available below.

The second case occurred on August 12, 2024, in the parking lot of the the Cooper YMCA near S. 14th and N. Mockingbird Lane.

An 18 year old kid reported his silver 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 he recently purchased from an individual in Council Bluffs (IA) was stolen from the parking lot.

The victim’s wallet was left in the truck and also stolen. Interestingly enough, says Keller, after the truck theft, the victim reported his credit card was being used in Council Bluffs.

Video surveillance from the YMCA shows another Dodge Ram, dark green in color, arrive and the passenger get into the victim’s truck and drive off with it. Police are looking for the individuals that arrived in the dark green Dodge Ram as they are persons of interest in this case.

Police are also asking the community to keep an eye out for a 2001 silver Dodge Ram 2500 that has yet to be located. So far, there was one reported sighting of it near Highway 77 and West Denton Road but officers were unable to find it.

Photos of the suspect’s truck and the one that was stolen are available below.

If you have information on either of these cases, contact Lincoln Police at (402) 441-6000 to speak with an officer, or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at (402) 475-3600. An anonymous tip can be left online through lincolncrimestoppers.com
