The Capital Humane Society is stressing the importance of having your pet microchipped. Executive Director Matt Madcharo says they will be hosting a low cost microchip event on Wednesday at the Stransky Veterinary Center at 55th and O Street.
“Our goal behind this is to try and get more pets microchipped so that as pets go missing or get lost hopefully they can be reunited and reunited in a quick manner,” Madcharo says. The cost of the microchip event is $10 and there are no office visit of exam fees.
He says getting pets microchipped reduces the number of lost animals in their care. The event runs from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday and is walk-in only. In addition to the $10 microchip cost, Madcharro says there will be no office visit or exam fees charged.
He anticipates long lines and asks pet owners to be aware that there could be a bit of a wait.
