With less than 50 days till Lincoln voters hit the polls for the Nov. 5th general election, the Lancaster County Election Commission will be hosting two voter registration drives on Tuesday, Sept. 17, celebrating “National Voter Registration Day.”

County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen invites all eligible residents of Nebraska who will be 18 on or before November 5, 2024, residents who have moved, changed their name, or would like to change their political party affiliation, to come register to vote at the following times and locations:

  • Bennett Martin Library (136 South 14th St.) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Gere Branch Library (2400 South 56th St.) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“Every eligible U.S. citizen should have the option to exercise their right to be heard at the ballot box, and National Voter Registration Day is the right day to start by getting registered to vote” said Wiltgen.

Citizens may also register to vote at the Election Commissioner’s Office (601 North 46th Street). The office is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The in-person voter registration deadline is Friday, October 25th.

In addition, voter registration is available online if a voter has a valid Nebraska Driver’s License or State Identification card (those without a valid Nebraska Driver’s License or State Identification card will need to use the form to register to vote). Voter registration is available online at ne.gov/go/NeReg2Vote.

Individuals may also register to vote through the mail. Mail-in registration forms are available at most post offices, banks, and libraries. A voter registration form is also available on the Election Commissioner’s website which may be downloaded, printed, and mailed to the Election Commissioner’s office. The online and mail-in postmark voter registration deadline is Friday, October 18th.
