The City of Lincoln is taking part in a world-wide celebration called Welcoming Week. Lisa Guill is the Welcoming Communities Coordinator and tells KLIN News it will run through September 22 and some events will stretch through the 30th.

“Welcoming Week is an opportunity for Lincolnites to come together and celebrate a rich cultural diversity of our community,” Guill says.  “We have over 10 percent of Lincolnites, about 30,000 folks, who are foreign born, but call Lincoln home.”

Guill says last year Lincoln Welcoming Week celebrated over 8,000 people in attendance.   There will be 30 different events this week with some stretching through September 30. It will include a naturalization ceremony for 25-30 new Americans.
