After a shocking upset loss at SMU Tuesday, No. 2 Nebraska returned to the court with a vengance with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-16 victory over The Citadel Thursday night at the Devaney Center.
The Huskers led the first two sets throughout, hitting a blistering .550 in the first set while not committing an error and tallying five aces. Nebraska (4-1) also steamrolled through the second set, hitting .314 while adding three blocks. The third set started a little closer, with The Citadel taking a 6-5 lead. But after that, Nebraska won five straight rallies and seven of the last eight to take control of the third set. The Huskers ended the match with a flourish, winning six of the final eight rallies to clinch the match.
Harper Murray led Nebraska with nine kills, while Merritt Beason and Leyla Blackwell both had seven kills and four blocks each. Andi Jackson contributed seven kills and one block as well. Bergen Reilly pitched in 36 set assists and three aces.
Nebraska returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. against Montana State. Pregame coverage begins at 1 p.m. on B-107.3.
