If you’ve been thinking about adding a pet to your family Saturday will be the day to do it. The Capital Humane Society will be holding a ‘Clear The Shelters’ adoption event from 12-6 p.m. at the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center near 70th and Nebraska Parkway.
“We are going to reduce the adoption fees for all dogs and puppies to $75 and all the cats and kittens we’re going to reduce the adoption fees to $50,” Madcharo says. There will be a 50 percent reduction on adoption fees for all critters, including guinea pigs and rabbits.
License and rabies fees may apply for dog and cat adoptions. He says the goal is to clear out as many kennels and cages as possible and find homes for the animals in their care. “Clear The Shelters” is a national one day adoption event that started in 2017. In the first year, the Capital Humane Society did 60 pet adoptions and Madcharo is looking to break that record on Saturday.
He says the adoption process will be different than normal so there will be likely longer wait times than normal. Potential adopters should bring a photo ID along with family members to meet a potential new pet.
The Pieloch Pet Adoption Center will be closed this Sunday.
