Lincoln Police say 56 year old Timothy Beem was the man struck and killed just before 7 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 77 and Rosa Parks Way.
When officers arrived, they rendered first aid to Beem until Lincoln Fire and Rescue arrived. Beem was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers determined that a multi-colored 2006 Inifiniti sedan and a brown 2007 Chevrolet Malibu sedan were southbound on Highway 77 between West “O” Street and Van Dorn at the time of the accident.
Officer Erin Spilker says Beem had pulled over to the shoulder and exited his vehicle to retrieve debris from the roadway. As he was walking westbound across the highway to return to his vehicle, he was struck by a vehicle.
Investigators are still working to determine the timeline of events and each vehicle’s involvement. Both vehicles have been located and the drivers have been interviewed. No citations have been issued at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
