The Bennett-Martin Library in downtown Lincoln now has a dedicated space where residents can access important resources. There will be a grand opening for the Local History Resource Hub on Saturday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on the second floor of the Library near 14th and ‘N’.

“The Local History Resource Hub represents our commitment to preserving and sharing the history of Lincoln and Nebraska with our community,” says Ryan Wieber, Lincoln City Libraries Director. “We are thrilled to offer a space where history enthusiasts and researchers alike can access these important resources.”

Wieber says resources available include extensive collections of local newspapers, Lincoln city directories on microfilm dating to 1867, access to the online archives of newspapers and detailed property and land-use records for Nebraska from 1883 to 1962 via Sanborn Maps.

Residents can also access Lincoln Public Schools yearbooks and other historical items from district archives, Genealogical materials and biographical information on prominent figures through the Biography Reference Bank.
