A Texas man was killed in a head-on crash on I-80 near Greenwood early Sunday morning. The Nebraska State Patrol says around 3:20 a.m. a Ford Econoline van was driving west in the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a semi.
The patrol says 88-year-old Chester Heidel of Livingston, Texas was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
Eastbound I-80 was closed for about three hours and the crash remains under investigation.
