The Nebraska State Patrol responded to a reckless semi driver on I-80 in east Lincoln early Wednesday morning. State patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says a trooper located the westbound semi near 84th Street and saw it was unable to maintain its lane.
“The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield,” Thomas says. “After a few miles, stop sticks were deployed, which brought the semi to a stop near the NW 48th St exit, but the driver refused commands to exit the vehicle.”
The trooper and an LPD officer were able to eventually take the driver into custody without further incident. Thomas says the driver appeared disoriented and was suffering from a medical condition. That driver was transported to the hospital to get checked out.
An LPD officer put down the stop sticks and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the traffic stop.
