A 37-year-old Lincoln man was the victim of a scam after befriending a female on a dating app.

Lincoln Police say that shortly thereafter he received unsolicited nude photos and was then contacted by someone who said they worked for the Omaha Police Department. He was then told by the woman’s father would not press charges if the victim paid $2,400. The victim wired the money to an online account.

“When in doubt, hang up,” said LPD Captain Todd Kocian. “Call the law enforcement agency and verify it is a legitimate request.”
