A man remains in critical condition after an accident around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, October 17th at 27th and Old Cheney.
The driver and passenger of a 2017 Buick Encore were taken to a hospital. A 33 year old male passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition. The 32 year old female driver was treated and released.
The other vehicle, a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was driven by a 30 year old man and was also rushed to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He remains hospitalized.
Officers determined that the Buick was eastbound in the inside lane on Old Cheney when it was rear-ended by the Jeep. The Buick then was pushed through the median and it hit a pole on the north side of Old Cheney. The Jeep continued eastbound and hit a tree on the south side of Old Cheney. Both vehicles are totaled.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor for the driver of the Jeep. So far, no citations have been issued and the investigation continues.
