6 people, 3 adults and 3 children, were taken to multiple hospitals following a shooting in Crete, Nebraska, Friday afternoon.
Multiple law enforcement agencies and first responders were dispatched to the scene in East Crete shortly after 4:30 pm Friday. Doane College went on lockdown a short time later.
At an evening news conference, officials confirmed 6 victims were evacuated from a residence through the back door and were taken to several hospitals including Bryan West in Lincoln. All of the victims were described as having non life-threatening injuries.
Capt. Sean Caradori with the Nebraska State Patrol said members of the NSP Swat team breached a home across the street from where the victims were shot about 2-hours after the initial calls were received. Officers found a man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
