You may have experienced a few bumps in the road driving around Lincoln this week. LTU Maintenance Operations Manager Tim Byrne tells KLIN News they received a few calls from the public about pavement buckling in the extreme heat.
“From some additional cracking on the surface to a real slight bump to a more significant heave that would be a serious safety issue to the traveling public.” He tells KLIN News there were a couple of calls about unsafe conditions.
“Staff immediately put up some traffic control and closed that lane of traffic and crews are actively working to repair those.” Byrne says they will evaluate each call promptly and determine the next course of action.
Byrne says minor bumps in the pavement will be targeted for future repair. He tells KLIN News streets in this part of the country goes through so much stress from the sub-zero temperatures in we see in the winter and the triple digits we see in the summer.
He says crews are currently repairing three spots around town and he encouraged residents who have a concern to call them at 402–441-7646 or make a report using the free UPLNK App.
