…HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

Heat index values up to 106 are expected across a large portion of Southwest Iowa and Southeast Nebraska including;  in Iowa, Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont, and Page Counties.  In Nebraska, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders, Lancaster, Cass, Otoe, Jefferson, Gage, Johnson, Pawnee, Nemaha, and Richardson Counties.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

The Lincoln-Lancaster Count Health Department advises drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check-up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
