Lincoln Police say an 18-year-old man had a gun and ammunition stolen after giving a friend a ride this past Sunday. Captain Todd Kocian says the victim told police he gave the friend a ride to the area of 60 & Fremont but did not know the friend’s name.
“After hanging out for a while, the friend left. That’s when the victim discovered his 5.56 caliber rifle, a 50-round drum magazine and 150 rounds of ammunition missing from his vehicle,” Kocian says.
On Thursday the LPD SWAT Team and the gang unit served a warrant on a home near 86th and Leighton and took the 17-year-old into custody. The stolen rifle and another rifle were found along with 117.5 grams of marijuana and cash.
He was booked into the Youth Detention Center on gun and drug charges.
