Nebraska volleyball player Harper Murray is now facing a misdemeanor shoplifting charge stemming from an incident at the Scheels Sporting Goods store on May 2.

The charge came down in Lancaster County Court on Friday, June 14, for stealing money or goods less than $500. Murray is scheduled to appear in court next Wednesday, June 26.

“Video surveillance showed Murray concealing merchandise in her pockets that she did not pay for and leaving the store on Thursday evening,” Lincoln Police Public Information Officer Erika Thomas said in late-May. “She was then seen removing the items from her pockets while sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle in the parking lot.”

The stolen items were five gold rings with a total value around $65. Murray was cited and released on May 16 for theft by shoplifting.

This was the latest legal trouble for the 19-year-old Murray, who was also cited in April for driving under the influence, reckless driving, obstruction of a peace officer, minor in possession and carrying false identification. Her blood-alcohol content was .169, according to the Lincoln Police Department — twice the legal limit. She is set to be back in court on June 24 for the DUI citation.
