A Nebraska men’s basketball player will begin his career in Lincoln sooner than expected.
Trevor Lakes transferred from the University of Indianapolis, a Division II school, with the intention of redshirting in 2020-21 and use his final year of eligibility next season. That changed this week with the NCAA ruling allowing sit-out transfers to play without losing a season of eligibility.
“We are pleased that Trevor has been cleared to play beginning tonight,” Nebraska Coach Fred Hoiberg said. “He has worked hard in practice since getting on campus this summer and is excited to have this opportunity. His size and shooting ability will help us, especially as we get ready for the start of Big Ten play next week.”
The sharpshooting 6-foot-7 forward made 41-percent of his 3-point attempts at Indianapolis, scoring more than 1,000 points and grabbing more than 400 rebounds over his three seasons.
Nebraska hosts Doane University in the final non-conference game for the Huskers at 6 p.m. tonight.
