A 49-year-old Lincoln man was the victim of a deadly crash Saturday afternoon near 84th and Old Cheney. According to a police report Amare Biftu was northbound on 84th just after 3:00 p.m. when a southbound car swerved, crossed the median and struck his car head on.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The force of the crash sent his engine block flying into another northbound vehicle. Three other people went to the hospital and the police report shows the 40-year-old woman driving the southbound car was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The report also shows she did not have a drivers license. The woman and her passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No citations have been issued yet.
