The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department says one person is dead and another in critical condition following a two vehicle crash near SW 84 and West ‘A’ Wednesday afternoon. Captain John Vik says the crash happened around 12:40 p.m.
“Based on our preliminary investigation, it looks like a vehicle was leaving a private driveway and came into SW 84th where there was another vehicle traveling southbound and the two vehicles collided.” Vik says both the driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver that was pulling out of the driveway was taken to the hospital and is in critical but stable condition. Vik says SW 84th from West ‘A’ to West Van Dorn Streets will remain closed through the afternoon commute. Investigators will be working to reconstruct the crash scene.
Drivers are urged to seek an alternate route.
