A Monday night fire heavily damaged a house near 56th and A Street.  LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the fire broke out around 9:00.  “Crews arrived to find white smoke showing from the roofline and the occupants had evacuated prior to our arrival.”

Lierman says crews went in and found smoke in the kitchen and a small fire.  Lierman tells KLIN News the fire was under control in 20 minutes. Damage is estimated at $75,000 to the house and $50,000 to the contents.

She says an electrical problem sparked the fire.  The family had to be relocated due to the smoke, fire and water damage.
